The stomach endoscopy requires that your stomach be empty for the procedure. Our doctor may recommend that you avoid eating for 8 hours before the procedure. If you take any medications such as aspirin or anti-coagulants, our doctor may recommend that you stop their use for seven days before your endoscopy. You may also be asked to avoid smoking or caffeine use for one to two weeks before your procedure.
Why a Stomach Endoscopy Is Performed
Our doctors perform stomach endoscopies to check on the health of your digestive system. A healthy digestive system helps to ensure the success of your upcoming weight loss surgery. The stomach endoscopy helps our doctors to check for medical conditions such as inflammation of the esophagus and stomach. It is also used to check for conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease, narrowing of the esophagus, and enlarged or swollen veins in your esophagus. These conditions need treatment so that your weight loss surgery can be successful.
A stomach endoscopy is also used to check for ulcers, hiatal hernia and stomach blockages. In some cases, our doctors may perform a stomach endoscopy to check on the size and health of your stomach after a weight loss surgery. Our doctors may recommend this procedure after your weight loss surgery if your rate of weight loss is faster or slower than expected.
How a Stomach Endoscopy Works
A stomach endoscopy can be performed right in our doctor’s office. To perform a stomach endoscopy, you will be given an oral medication to help numb your throat. This makes it more comfortable to insert the endoscope. Our doctor may give you a sedative or a muscle relaxant so that you can rest during the procedure. You will be able to lay down on your left side during the endoscopy. A mouth guard will be given to you to protect your teeth from the tubing.
The endoscope is slowly inserted through your mouth and down your throat. Our doctors will be able to see the camera’s position by watching the video feed on a monitor. Once the scope is in your throat, you will be able to sit up. This air injection helps to move the camera into your stomach. Some air or water may be inserted into the tubing. This allows our doctors to get a better view of all of the parts of your stomach. Our doctor will take some pictures of your esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. The endoscope will then be slowly removed. The procedure takes about 30 to 60 minutes.
The grumpy lady with the horrible yellow blonde perm needs to get some basic lessons on customer service and being a nice human. You’d think a receptionist at an entry level job would do a bit more to change their unhappy circumstances but apparently a small request nowadays is such a big deal and it’s unfortunate I have to take time out of my day to let others know about my experience here.
Worst experience I've had,Clarissa the nurse was rude. The owner( short Persian man)with devious smile was trying to push me into having physical therapy which I didn't need. Try Saddleback OSC or Laguna.
I agree the care and people are great. However, their management tricked me into an out of network surgery. After repeatedly making it clear that I wanted all aspects of the surgery to be in network with UHC, they booked my surgery on a day when the facility switches to a different business entity called Minimally Invasive Surgical Center. So, a simple hemorrhoid procedure that normally bills for under 3K within network was billexto my insurance for 62.5k. Of course they had me pay $1,400 out of pocket just before performing yhe surgery and also had me sign numerous documents right before the procedure. If I would have received these forms, particularly the one that stated that I knew it was an out of network provider, I would have never signed it. The owner of Minimally Invasive called me on the phone when I was still plannibg the surgery to try to talk me into accepting performing out of network in exchange for some cash discount. I tefused but he still set it up as out of network without my consent. I am extremely dissapointed in these people who now refuse to re-pricess the claim. Beware of what day your surgery takes place and make sure to get all forms well ahead of your procedure date. Soecially those related to payment and claim type, or you might end up with a very expensive surprise. This is the stuff of crooks.
5 stars is not good enough for how amazing these people are! Had my producer done here on 4/23/2021 with Dr. Syn. The whole process from beginning to end was pretty great (yes... the surgery process that everyone hates). The surgery center was clean and everyone had their stuff together from the moment I parked in the check-in spot, till check-out. I can never say enough about the nurses, they are the kindest people and I am so thankful to have had them there. Even though I’ve never met them before, they made me feel at ease and we’re just kind humans ❤️Definitely recommend 🤙🏼
Definitely recommend, fast easy process. They make sure your well informed on whats happening, and if your nervous they’ll talk to you about stuff that makes you happy, especially helped when i was getting my IV.
A couple of weeks ago my mother had a bad experience at this center. She overheard the nurses making rude comments about a patient.I felt very uncomfortable going threw my procedure after what I herd.Very unprofessional attitude, please avoid this place I made the mistake of coming here.
I saw Dr. Shad after my aunt recommended me to him for back pain. I had pretty bad back pain for a young adult. Upon the first appointment he felt my injury and immediately identified the area in pain and explained everything to me. My back is doing great now and I am able to go back for tissue work when needed. Never had more confidence in a doctor then I do with Dr. Shad, definitely recommend!
I just had a procedure done here this morning. The center is very clean and orderly. The nurses were so friendly and kind, it was like talking to a friend. The anesthesiologist had great bedside manner and was honestly the nicest one I’ve ever met. Dr. Jenkins is very sweet and made sure I felt comfortable and informed. She is always very bubbly and makes you feel at ease. Really great people at this place! Highly recommend if you are needing a procedure done.
I have had a number of procedures done. The staff are amazing they took such good care of me. Dr. Ding communicates on a real level.Highly recommend this crew if you ever need surgery they are equipped for
My wife had surgery at your Facility. Dr Tony Mork was the surgeon. We were very impressed with your neat little surgery center. We got very personal care.. Thinking back 10 months when she had surgery we still remember well 😊
The morning admittance gal who was friendly , knowledgeable and put my nervousness about surgery at ease helped me fill out the necessary forms for surgery. The next nurse prepped me for surgery and explained what would be happening. Again, very personable, organized, and knowledgeableAnother nurse came over and told me she would be helping the doctor in surgery and again explained what was going on. Friendly The orthopedic surgeon came in and spine to me about the surgery also kind and caring. Then surgery was over and I was again met with a kind nurse to help me adjust to waking up. This may all sound very routine to who ever reads this but surgery is Not, routine and it is damm scary to the patient and their families. To be taken care of by friendly, kind caring and knowledgeable staff is so important. My husband And I are grateful for the entire team here at Crown Valley Surgical. Thank you, Barbara and Jeff tatro
